24 April 2001: The Day from Hell
Today absolutely sucked. I'm so edgy I want to cry.
Everything seemed normal in the morning. I even managed to leave the apartment a bit earlier than usual. Before I left, I looked for my sunglasses. I keep them in a black box that I carry in my bag. I couldn't found the box in the bag. I figured out I must have left my sunglasses at work. Damn.
As I was walking to the bus station (a 10-15 minutes walk), I felt there's something wrong with my right sandal. It was torn. It snapped while I was walking.
Damn.
I didn't return home because I don't have any other suitable shoe to go to work with (besides high-heeled sandals I can't walk more than 100 meters with). I bought tacks on the way and tried to fix the sandal. It didn't hold, but while doing that I found out my sungalsses were in my bag after all. When I arrived at work (I'm stil not sure how I managed to do that), I taped the loose strap. It looked ugly, but at least I hoped it would last.
In the afternoon (I'm still at work), I found out my cellular phone isn't working. The display was jammed and the buttons weren't responding. I called the customer support (they were very nice), explained the problem and was told to bring the cellular to the service center and they will take care of it.
That ment I had to go there NOW, because they closed at 6.
I also had to go to the post office to collect a package (a book I ordered). They also close at 6.
So I left work. I managed to arrive to the service center at 17:30. they were really nice and quite fast, but it was still 5 minutes to 6 when I left.
I still don't know how I managed to get to the post office just before they closed.
Now I had to go look for new sandals. I went to 3 stores, neither one had what I wanted (a simple flat sandal, black, with one or two straps). In the 4th store I found something similar to what I wanted, but it was too expensive. Finally, in the 5th store I found a nice pair in an average price.
The thing is, I really liked my old pair of sandals. They were perfect. I'm still thinking of fixing them.
I arrived home totally exhausted. Like Murphy said, when one thing goes wrong, everything will go wrong.
To prove I haven't totally lost my sense of self-humor, I give you the Nine West website. Great sandals.
