David and I met in the Technion Institute in Haifa. He studied for a B.Sc in Aerospace Engineering, and I studied for a B.A. in Computer Sciences. We lived in the same dormitory block and had mutual acquaintances, but we actually never met, until a mutual acquaintance (who was a very good friend of mine) introduced us to each other. Nothing special came out of that, besides a casual chat in the dormitory club now and then, no more.
Summer semester started, and they opened up a ballroom dancing club in the Technion. A friend of mine and me decided to go and try it out, and David came with us also. David and I got hooked on ballroom dancing, but my friend didn't, so I started going to the club with David alone, and we became dance partners. About a month later, in October 1st 1998, we decided we want to become more than dance partners. I was almost 20 years old then, and he was 22.5 years old. The years went by, and after 2.5 years of dating we decided to move in together. Sentimental engineers that we are, we picked a memorable date - April 1st 2001, exactly 2.5 years after we started dating (my mom insisted that we write April 2nd on the cheques and in the contract, to avoid bad luck). Another year went by, and in our 3.5 years anniversary (that's April 1st 2002) David proposed to me (want to read about the proposal? only after finishing this!), and I said yes. We decided to get married on October 1st 2002, our 4 years anniversary. It was a fabulous wedding, but you'll read all about it in the other parts of this website. |
