It's amazing how life halt when you hear the Remembrance Day siren. We just leave everything and stand still, honoring their memory in silence.
At 20:00 that day, The Independence Day festivities begin. They ended today.
I wanted to take the chance to tell you a bit about Israel, since most "net people" I know think Israel is cool and exotic, but I'm not really sure how they imagine it.
Here is some israeli trivia:
* Israel's capital city is Jerusalem.
* Israel's parliament is called the Knesset and holds 120 seats.
* Ariel Sharon is the israeli prime minister.
* Moshe Katsav is the israeli president.
* Israel's international airport is called the Ben Gurion Airport and is located in Lod, a small town near Tel Aviv. It is named after David Ben Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel.
* The Dead Sea in Israel is the lowest place on Earth. Many consider its hot springs to have healing powers.
* 4 israelis won the Nobel Prize.
* Israel won 4 olympic medals : 1 silver (Judo) and 3 bronze (Judo, wind surfing and kayaks).
* ICQ, the famous application, was created by an israeli company called Mirabilis.
* FireWall is a product of an israeli company called CheckPoint.
* Israel is an active participant in the human genome decoding project.
* Israel is the only country that successfully developed an anti-missile system.
* Israel is the #1 expert in UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) design and development.
