Another thing I wanted to add regarding Israel.
Another thing I wanted to add regarding Israel:

Israel is my country and I love it. I think it's the most beautiful place on earth and the SAFEST place on earth. I would never want to live anywhere else, because here I feel that I belong.

With 8 mounths of summer and 4 months of mild winter, with the warm people and the special israeli spirit, with the beautiful landscapes that range from a desert in the south and green mountains in the north - Israel is perfect.

We managed to grow crops and grapevines in the desert. This country is magical.

Israel's Independence Day
It's amazing how life halt when you hear the Remembrance Day siren. We just leave everything and stand still, honoring their memory in silence.

At 20:00 that day, The Independence Day festivities begin. They ended today.

I wanted to take the chance to tell you a bit about Israel, since most "net people" I know think Israel is cool and exotic, but I'm not really sure how they imagine it.
Here is some israeli trivia:

* Israel's capital city is Jerusalem.

* Israel's parliament is called the Knesset and holds 120 seats.

* Ariel Sharon is the israeli prime minister.

* Moshe Katsav is the israeli president.

* Israel's international airport is called the Ben Gurion Airport and is located in Lod, a small town near Tel Aviv. It is named after David Ben Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel.

* The Dead Sea in Israel is the lowest place on Earth. Many consider its hot springs to have healing powers.

* 4 israelis won the Nobel Prize.

* Israel won 4 olympic medals : 1 silver (Judo) and 3 bronze (Judo, wind surfing and kayaks).

* ICQ, the famous application, was created by an israeli company called Mirabilis.

* FireWall is a product of an israeli company called CheckPoint.

* Israel is an active participant in the human genome decoding project.

* Israel is the only country that successfully developed an anti-missile system.

* Israel is the #1 expert in UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) design and development.

That's it for now. If you want to know more about Israel - you can always ask me!

From Remembrance day to Independence Day
Today, at 20:00, a siren was heard across the country. Remembrance Day started this evening and will last until tommorow evening, when Israel's 53rd Independence Day will start.

Remembrence Day is dedicated to commemorating the soldiers that died while fighting in the wars or on their duty.

This virtual candle is dedicated to their memory:

The Day from Hell
Today absolutely sucked. I'm so edgy I want to cry.

Everything seemed normal in the morning. I even managed to leave the apartment a bit earlier than usual. Before I left, I looked for my sunglasses. I keep them in a black box that I carry in my bag. I couldn't found the box in the bag. I figured out I must have left my sunglasses at work. Damn.

As I was walking to the bus station (a 10-15 minutes walk), I felt there's something wrong with my right sandal. It was torn. It snapped while I was walking.
Damn.

I didn't return home because I don't have any other suitable shoe to go to work with (besides high-heeled sandals I can't walk more than 100 meters with). I bought tacks on the way and tried to fix the sandal. It didn't hold, but while doing that I found out my sungalsses were in my bag after all. When I arrived at work (I'm stil not sure how I managed to do that), I taped the loose strap. It looked ugly, but at least I hoped it would last.

In the afternoon (I'm still at work), I found out my cellular phone isn't working. The display was jammed and the buttons weren't responding. I called the customer support (they were very nice), explained the problem and was told to bring the cellular to the service center and they will take care of it.
That ment I had to go there NOW, because they closed at 6.
I also had to go to the post office to collect a package (a book I ordered). They also close at 6.
So I left work. I managed to arrive to the service center at 17:30. they were really nice and quite fast, but it was still 5 minutes to 6 when I left.
I still don't know how I managed to get to the post office just before they closed.
Now I had to go look for new sandals. I went to 3 stores, neither one had what I wanted (a simple flat sandal, black, with one or two straps). In the 4th store I found something similar to what I wanted, but it was too expensive. Finally, in the 5th store I found a nice pair in an average price.
The thing is, I really liked my old pair of sandals. They were perfect. I'm still thinking of fixing them.

I arrived home totally exhausted. Like Murphy said, when one thing goes wrong, everything will go wrong.

To prove I haven't totally lost my sense of self-humor, I give you the Nine West website. Great sandals.

Holocaust Remembrance day
Today we commemorated the Holocaust Remembrance Day. In 10:00 a siren echoed throughout the entire country, and we stood in a moment of silence to honor the 6,000,000 (6 million) Jews who were murdered by the Nazi death machine and their helpers.

You can find info on the Holocaust in the following sites:

Women and the Holocaust - a website dedicated to the women who were murdered in the Holocaust and to the women who survived.

Yad Vashem - The Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority

remember.org - Cybrary of the Holocaust.

Simon Wiesenthal Center - an international Jewish human rights organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust.

We've got a phone line!!!
Finally, after numerous phone calls and shouts, the stupid phone company installed a phone line in our apartment.

so I have web connection!!!!  Y A Y ! ! !

David and I bought a scanner too, and when I'll have time I'll scan some lovely pictures I've been wanting to scan for ages. It's an HP scanner.

I'm too happy to blog, I guess :) Nevertheless, I would like to point out Rita's FABULOUS new domain: marciana.org. It's sooooo great :)

Sex and Physics
Edge did an interview with Dennis Overbye titled Sex and Physics. Does anything say "Sexy Geek Girl" more than that?? :) The article is very interesting actually - It's about Albert Einstein, love and some physics.
I should definitely start reading Edge.

jjg.net offers information architecture resources.

This is hilarious: The FuckedCompany.com server : real-time performance monitor (BTW, my first computer was a Commodore 64).

MeowMail is the online community for the "wired" cats... and their human valets.

Can you guess whether boobs are real or fake? Take the test.

thought I've gone to sleep? YEAH RIGHT!
I'm definitely not going to sleep when i finally have a net connection under my hands! ;-)
Just a few more links...

ecco domani has a new fabulous layout. I love it.

Cromulent is great too. I really like the design. Maybe I should make a layout that uses grey, black and white too sometimes?

Is this a joke???!!!

I don't know whether to be amused or angry at the group Epitome of a Phenomenal Woman.
Quote: "Their sites represent the highest of quality, with attention to every detail. They have chosen to join this elite group of women as a statement of their character as both a woman and a web architect"
?? Come on. It's more like "They paid 20 bucks to join this group of women". Some of the members' sites really can't be considered as "highest of quality". Sorry.

eastcoastgirl is beautiful (love the fresh design!) and so is apathy.nu.

I also added a new movie to "Been Watching" :)

Happy Passover!
Tommorow is Passover Eve. I'm at my parents house right now (no, me and David didn't get the f*cking phone line we ordered yet, BTW) and David is at his. The "Seder" is tommorow, and each one of us is celebrating with his family... I hope that next year we'll be able to throw a big Seder at our place and invite both sides.

A week and a half has passed since we moved to the apartment. Things are going well in the mean time... We are cleaning up and organizing bit by bit, slowly but surely. We hope to finish organizing everything by the next weekend.

In the spirit of Passover, I found a site that offers Passover songs (although some of them are only semi-related to Passover) and a site with Seder tunes. Have fun with those :)

The latest D'Zine offers an interesting article about getting your visitors to return to your website over and over again. I wish I could spend more time working on my site. Now it's impossible of cousre, since I don't even have a connection (or a phone line), but I hope that when everything will be sorted out, I will be able to dedicate the time. I have stories that I want to write and add to the site.... just don't have the time nor energy to do so.

Not all candies are good. The Ultimate Bad Candy Web Site offers reviews of candies you really don't want to eat. The site is also very well designed :)

The 4th Harry Potter book was finally released in Hebrew. I read the book in English in August, and I'm not going to buy the Hebrew translation anytime soon. I'm waiting for the prices to lower.
The Bristol Evening Post published an interesting article about the 5th book, which is worth reading. Also, the official Harry Potter website is now offering a Quidditch game! Both links are from The Leaky Cauldron, a weblog I frequent, which has all the latest news and resources about everything Harry Potter! :)
Do you know I received 6 Harry Potter pens and Harry potter stationarry as a gift from The Israeli Harry Potter website (in hebrew) ?? When we'll get a scanner, I'll take some pictures of them and post them here :)

Wow, that was long! Good Night and Happy Passover!
